Awards

Each year at our Annual Showcase Gala Dinner AIM Global is pleased to recognize leaders in the Automatic Identification and Mobility industry. This year AIM will present the following four awards. Please see below for the nomination criteria and forms.

The Percival Award

Percival AwardThe Percival Award was established in 1982 to honor Don Percival, an early founder and pioneer in the development of barcode scanning. The Award is co-sponsored by the Scan-Data Capture Report and AIM, Inc.  The award is presented annually to an individual or organization from the user community recognizing outstanding contributions to the application of automatic identification and data capture technologies.

The Richard R. Dilling Award

Diling Award Established in 1984, named for Richard R. Dilling, an industry pioneer and former Vice President of AIM, the Dilling Award is the highest award given in the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. It is presented to executives, scientists, and engineers in recognition of outstanding contributions that have furthered the growth of the industry through important applications and new technological developments. The recipient is nominated and selected by the AIM president, and committee of the industry's elite. Only one award is made each year, selected from many worthy candidates.

Excellence in Journalism Award

The Excellence in Journalism Award was established in 2006 by AIM Global'sJournalism Award Education and Public Policy committee to recognize a journalist or media representative in the automatic identification industry whose work exemplifies the qualities of honest, educational and unbiased reporting of the automatic identification and mobility industry. The award is presented annually at the Industry Awards presentation during the AIM Showcase.

Ted Williams Award

Named in honor of Ted Williams, an industry innovator, collaborator, and long time member of the AIM Global Technical Symbology Committee, the Ted Williams Award is given to a member of the industry that has made outstanding contributions to the development of the Automatic Identification and Mobility industry. It is presented annually to a professor or student in recognition of innovative and exceptional contributions that can further the growth of the industry through their work as a teacher, researcher and entrepreneur. The recipient is nominated by the AIM Global membership and selected by a vote of the AIM Board of Directors.
