AIM, Inc., the global trade association recognized as the worldwide authority on automatic identification and data collection (AIDC) and networking in a mobile environment, today announced that it has chartered and licensed AIM China to promote the growth of AIDC adoption in one of the fastest growing national markets in the world. Since 1993, AIM, Inc. has been diligently working toward the establishment of an AIDC vendors and solution providers organization in China, culminating in an October 10th signing ceremony at the SCAN China trade show held in Beijing. AIM China is currently in the process of obtaining final, pro forma approval from the Chinese government, which will provide them with the credentials to take the lead in promoting AIDC standards to new, end user communities in China. “AIM China will play an important role in educating users and service providers about AIDC technology solutions, said Brian Wynne, AIM Executive Vice President, Global Integration. As China enters the World Trade Organization (WTO) and accelerates its growing role in global trade, AIDC will experience tremendous demand.” The chartering of AIM China represents one element of an ongoing effort by AIM, Inc. to promote the use and growth of AIDC technologies and services in China. To further support AIM China’s efforts, AIM, Inc. has just launched a Chinese language Web site to extend and help facilitate its outreach programs to end user communities. The contents of the Web site will provide a wealth of information including AIDC resources, information on standards and several application stories from around the world. The application stories will provide local end users and system integrators throughout China with credible examples of successful AIDC installations in a variety of markets. In addition, AIM, Inc. is working directly with user groups such as the China Non-prescription Medicines Association (CNMA) to encourage the adoption of AIDC within large and rapidly growing vertical markets. AIM will be hosting a half-day of sessions at the CNMA conference being held the first week of December in Hainan province, China. The intent of the four-day conference is to educate the more than 300 members of CNMA, mostly from the pharmaceutical industry, on how to upgrade their computer and IT systems. According to Wing Ng, Director, AIM Asia/Pacific, “The CNMA conference presents a tremendous opportunity for AIM members worldwide to tap into the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. AIM members who are interested in participating in the CNMA conference should contact me directly.” AIM, Inc. provides direct support for all activities in China from its Asia/Pacific Regional Support Center, strategically located in Hong Kong and servicing from Korea to Australia and from Japan to India. The support center is managed by Mr. Ng who is promoting the industry through similar activities in other parts of the region. The Asia/Pacific Regional Support Center provides several important services to AIM members in the region, local AIM affiliates such as AIM China and end users seeking information on AIDC solutions. Some of the more important services are as follows: Facilitate and maintain a consistent flow of information and expertise on new AIDC technology solutions and standards. Provide speakers for regional events targeted at large and growing users of AIDC technology. Serve as facilitator for international companies exploring the Asia/Pacific markets. Develop and implement an active new member recruitment program Host regional networking events. Facilitate the translation of useful AIM literature into local languages.
