Based in Middlesex, PlayboyTV provides subscription adult entertainment for UK and European audiences. The videos which are edited at their Hayes office for broadcast over the cable and satellite networks are stored at a secure library facility. As part of the new system each video will have an Intellident RFID label attached to it, to help identify, manage and track it through the library to the broadcast and editing suite. When a video is removed from the library area the user will have to ‘log it out’ using Intellident’s ‘self check station’. The user simply types in their pin number on the touch screen, selects the location they are taking the video to and then passes the video over a reader. The system will detect the RFID tag on each of the videos and log the items out to that user. Multiple videos can also be checked out simultaneously. Unlike a barcode, the system does not need to see the tag to read it. The Intellident tag also contains a security device. As the video is logged out of the library, the security chip is deactivated. If a user does not check the video out correctly or if a tape is removed, then an alarm will sound at the exit. An email alert is automatically sent to the administration team and a web cam is initiated. The process ensures that PlayboyTV know that all their videos are secure in the library area and all those that have been removed are logged out to known individuals and locations. Videos are returned through a ‘drop box’ in the wall of the library. The tag is read and the security resensitised. Library staff empty the box on a regular basis and reshelve. Management reports are also available to show inventory and video movement, real time. If a video is needed the system will show the user its location. If it is not available then a location, time/date borrowed and ID of owner will be identified. Intellident’s Portable Management Reader allows users to simply pass the reader along the library shelves to inventory the complete stock in the fastest possible time. In addition to stock taking, the reader can also search out individual videos or video collections. The reader will alert the user when the video has been found thus preventing hours of wasted time searching for it. END
