Margaret Fitzgerald has been named president of EPCglobal, the joint venture of the Uniform Code Council here and EAN International.
“As a passionate marketer, I welcome the opportunity to roll out EPCglobal,” she said. “I look forward to working with user companies to develop open, global standards that will unlock the full potential of this technology.” Her appointment becomes effective in January.
The UCC and EAN, Brussels, Belgium, also announced Wednesday that the international headquarters for EPCglobal would be based in Boston; EPCglobal U.S. is based here.
Fitzgerald will join EPCglobal from EAN New Zealand, where she served as CEO managing EAN-UCC standards in that country.
EPCglobal, a not-for-profit organization, is charged with establishing the global standard that leverages radio frequency identification technology (RFID), the Internet and the Electronic Product Code (EPC).
Fitzgerald will be in charge of the international organization. Dicky Lulay will continue to head up the EPCglobal U.S. initiative.
