LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ October 27, 2003 -- The Uniform Code Council (UCC) announced today that Thomas S. Rittenhouse, President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire effective January 1, 2004. Mr. Rittenhouse was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of the Uniform Code Council in February of 1997 following a thirty-year career in the retail industry.

Rittenhouse, President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire effective January 1, 2004. Mr. Rittenhouse was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of the Uniform Code Council in February of 1997 following a thirty-year career in the retail industry. The UCC is a not-for-profit standards development organization, promoter and supporter of standards implementation, and one of the foremost advocates of efficient international business across 25 major industries. UCC membership numbers nearly 300,000 member companies served by its entities, RosettaNet, serving high technology industries; UCCNet, providing global registry and data synchronization services to UCC members; and the newly formed, EPCglobal, Inc., a joint venture with EAN International responsible for the transition of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology from the laboratory to the commercial marketplace. Commenting on Mr. Rittenhouse’s impending retirement, Mr. Danny Wegman, President of Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. and Chairman of the UCC Board of Governors stated, “Under Tom’s leadership, the UCC has grown dramatically in scope and influence. He has been an important figure in advancing the adoption of intelligent business strategies to reduce costs and increase efficiencies across a wide variety of industries worldwide. For his wise and vigorous leadership of the UCC, he has the sincere gratitude of the Board of Governors and my personal best wishes in his retirement.” Prior to joining the UCC, Mr. Rittenhouse held a variety of executive positions with Strawbridge & Clothier. He is a member of numerous external boards and is the recipient of several prestigious awards from leading organizations within the retail industry. He is a graduate of LaSalle University and is active in a number of non-profit and civic organizations. Mr. Rittenhouse resides in Philadelphia, PA.
