IoT Smart Cities Industry Work Group
Share |

AIM has a plan to do it’s part in the smart cities realm.  Not only do we have a partnership with the Smart Cities Council, but we also established a working group within our IoT industry group that will help educate and watch the trends going on with cities becoming smarter.  This work group is lead by Avery Dennison RBIS’s Manager of Technology Development Jeanne Duckett, and she recently explained why all AIM members and automatic identification users and providers should have interest in this work group.

“The IoT is having a profound impact on our everyday lives, from the products we consume to the way we manage our time. With consumer demands on the rise, cities must become smarter in the way they manage resources and provide services to their citizens. Creation of policies, regulations and standards are key components enabling the technologies (i.e. RFID, Wireless, among others) required to build a viable Smart City. While all are important, in the path towards smarter cities, standardization will play a key role in ensuring consistent outcomes. Standards are relevant in the physical world, where they allow for the interconnection of hardware and technologies, but also in the virtual space where they facilitate data collection/sharing as well as city operation. Join us in discussion of these key topics in the Smart City's AIM Global workgroup"
