At the Library
RFID is being used in innovative libraries around the world to:
- Provide express checkout for books and other library materials
- Automate the shelf management of library books, documents, CDs and DVDs
- Provide visibility to file locations within the library
To accommodate the needs of patrons and to secure library inventory, many libraries around the world are adopting RFID systems that speed checkout as well as alert library personnel if a patron is leaving the library with an item that has been improperly checked out. Locking cases will help prevent theft of multimedia materials.
