AIM Global Responds to EU Recommendations

AIM Global, in conjunction with its RFID Experts Group (REG), has prepared a response to the European Union's request for comments on their "Consultation on the Draft Recommendation on the implementation of privacy and information security principles in applications supported by RFID."  Visit the EU website at http://ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/ipm/forms/dispatch?form=RFIDRec for the comments submission process and form.

As you can see, some of the proposals, if adopted without change, will have a negative impact on the continuing development and successful use of RFID in Europe and beyond. We are working to convince the European Union (EU) commissioner to change the text of the Recommendation so that it would not stifle the creation of new applications and the adoption of current ones.

AIM Global encourages all RFID companies along with any of your constituents (from all countries, not just Europe) to respond to this consultation before 25 April 2008.  All vendors, integrators and implementers of RFID solutions have a stake in this process since EU regulations have global influence.  If you are an RFID vendor or customer and would like to receive a copy of AIM Global’s recommended input, please call the office at +1 724 934 4470 or email Diana@aimglobal.org.
