On Feb. 2, the DTA will host a regulatory meeting with FDA staff from the Branch of Dental Devices and Radiography to discuss important topics that will help all companies better prepare for regulatory changes that impact the dental device industry. Topics to be discussed include: 510(k) submission updates and electronic filings, syringe delivery system terminology, adoption of ISO 13485 testing standards, and any new proposed radiography and device updates for industry. Members are encouraged to submit additional topics for discussion.

On Feb. 3, all DTA manufacturer and distributor members are encouraged to attend a Unique Device Identification (UDI) Implementation Workshop at the Hampton Inn in Silver Spring, Md. The UDI system requires manufacturers (and distributor’s private label products) to carry a unique bar code (similar to bar codes on grocery store products) on the package or the device itself. The system is designed to make it easier to track medical devices as they move through the supply channel chain.
