August 20, 2025 – Hebron, KY – Today, BlueStar announces that Mike Byington, current Vice President of Business Development, will retire effective December 31st, 2025.
In the rapidly evolving world of technology distribution, few constants remain. But for over three decades, Mike Byington has served as both a foundational pillar and a relentless innovator, helping to shape our organization, inspiring our people, and expanding our reach across partners and technologies. Today, we honor and celebrate the remarkable career and impact of our long-standing leader and friend, who has been with the company since shortly after its rebirth in the 90s.
As the fourth employee to join the company, Mike brought an unmatched dedication to our mission and an entrepreneurial spirit that would soon spark countless new ideas. From his early days as an inside salesperson, Mike demonstrated a unique ability to connect with partners, understand customer pain points, and turn opportunities into long-term success. It was during these foundational years that he laid the groundwork for what would become a hallmark of our company culture: authentic relationship-building and a tireless commitment to delivering value.
As BlueStar grew, so did Mike’s influence. Transitioning into the role of Vice President of Business Development, he became a driving force behind some of BlueStar’s most critical growth initiatives. Perhaps most notably, he was an architect of our ISV Partnership Program, a bold move that redefined how we engage with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) —both emerging and established. This program was not only ahead of its time but also instrumental in opening new revenue streams for our channel partners while enabling ISVs to access scalable go-to-market support through our network.
Mike’s visionary thinking didn’t stop at ISVs. He played a pivotal role in cultivating and securing strategic partnerships with both customers and suppliers, bridging relationships that have fueled innovation and sustained our leadership position in the market. His instincts for opportunity, paired with his deep understanding of the channel ecosystem, allowed BlueStar to form alliances that extended our capabilities and deepened our market reach. Mike’s greatest legacy lies in the people he’s mentored—his guidance and belief in others have shaped many of today’s leaders and left a lasting mark on BlueStar’s culture and approach to partner engagement and team development. He helped to build the BlueStar DNA.
After more than 30 years, Mike’s fingerprints are on every corner of our business. From sales processes to partner strategy, from relationship management to internal mentorship—his leadership has left an indelible mark.
As we look toward the future, we do so on a foundation that he helped build—with humility, innovation, and a relentless focus on enabling partner success. Thank you, Mike, for your vision, your dedication, and the legacy you’ve given all of us. The journey you’ve led has not only shaped BlueStar but has also empowered an entire community.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc., an affiliate of leading mobility supplier DENSO, is showcasing its award-winning EdgeCool system for cooling rack-mounted computer servers and its MovinCool Climate Pro K12 portable cooling unit at BICSI Beyond 2025. The ultraefficient cooling systems are on display at Booth 419 throughout the Aug.17-20 information and communications technology conference and exhibition at The Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas.
“Our EdgeCool and MovinCool products offer innovative, sustainable and cost-effective cooling solutions that protect equipment and people in almost any setting,” said Alex Merlina, senior manager of DENSO’s Commercial and Industrial Solutions.
EdgeCool revolutionizes IT cooling by transforming server racks into their own portable, energy-saving server rooms. With a condenser and an evaporator that fit easily into almost any open or sealed server rack, the patented split system eliminates the need for more floor space, a dedicated server room, or disruptive and costly building modifications.
EdgeCool’s precision cooling ensures optimal performance and continuous temperature control for up to three racks of sensitive equipment. Features include variable-speed fans and separation of hot and cold airflow to maximize efficiency in any season. EdgeCool also accommodates specialized server racks in harsh or sound-sensitive environments such as busy factory floors, earthquake-prone areas, and broadcast and recording studios.
The MovinCool Climate Pro K12 is an advanced spot-cooling unit and the most compact in a series of six programmable models for cooling offices and computer rooms. All Climate Pro K units feature a color LCD control panel for ease of operation, large casters and bumpers that made the units easier and safer to move, a built-in cable compartment for secure cord storage, and other advances for high-efficiency air flow and ergonomic, secure drainage.
In addition to offices and computer rooms, Climate Pro K models are ideal for hospitals, schools, laboratories, banks, retail spaces and after-hours, supplemental and emergency backup cooling needs. Other MovinCool products are the Climate Pro X series for cooling people and operations in industrial and warehouse settings and the Climate Pro D series with dual heating and cooling capabilities.
EdgeCool garnered industry accolades immediately after DENSO launched the brand in 2022. Mission Critical magazine named EdgeCool among the winners of its 2022 Top Tier Product Awards, which recognize “technological innovations designed to save energy.” MovinCool is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial spot-cooling systems since DENSO pioneered the portable air conditioning industry more than 40 years ago.
BICSI is a global information and communications technology trade show that draws professionals from multiple sectors and industries including transportation, construction, engineering, data, communications, manufacturing, education, security and government. DENSO representatives are available at Booth 419 throughout the event to customers and companies interested in EdgeCool and MovinCool products and solutions. The heavier the demand, the faster we must go. In fast-moving logistics and warehouse environments, productivity is the name of the game. Yet many operations still struggle with outdated scanning systems that can’t keep up with the demands of real-time inventory management, complex workflows, and a constantly shifting labor force.
At DecisionPoint Technologies, we understand the daily pressures warehouse managers and IT leaders face—and we’re here to help you overcome them. And with the latest Datalogic release, we see a lot of potential in the PowerScan 9600, the first industrial handheld scanner to merge barcode reading with UHF RFID in a single, rugged, cordless device.
Scan to Solve – Why the Datalogic Powerscan 9600 Can be the Right Fit
1. Blind Spots in Inventory Tracking
Manual barcode-only scanning can miss items, especially when visibility is poor or pallets are stacked.
Solution: The PowerScan 9600 integrates UHF RFID and barcode scanning in one rugged device, enabling real-time inventory updates without line of sight—improving traceability and reducing errors.
2. Slow, Repetitive Scanning Processes
Switching between barcode and RFID tools—or manually entering data—slows productivity and increases fatigue.
Solution: The hybrid scanning capability allows workers to capture RFID tags and barcodes in one motion, dramatically reducing cycle times and boosting throughput.
3. Misplaced Assets & Shrinkage
Without precise traceability, it’s easy for high-value goods or assets to go missing.
Solution: The PowerScan’s RFID tracking and logging help maintain accountability across your entire operation, from receiving to shipping.
4. Fragmented Technology Environments
Integrating scanners with your warehouse management system, ERP, or legacy hardware can be a nightmare.
Solution: The PowerScan 9600 supports modular connectivity and embedded fieldbus systems, making it compatible with Android, vehicle-mounted terminals, and industrial PCs—offering maximum flexibility and future-proofing.
The Right Device for the Right Job
We’ve spent over two decades helping warehouse and supply chain teams select, deploy, and maintain the right mobile technologies. The Datalogic PowerScan 9000 series has a lot of potential and fits into some of our top recommendations for operations where speed, durability, accuracy, and adaptability are non-negotiable.
Whether you’re upgrading legacy scanners or preparing for an RFID-powered future, this device gives you the hybrid capability and ROI to make it a smart long-term investment.
