Public Review Announcement: AIM's RFID Guideline for Tires

LEARN MORE...

AIM's RFID Experts Group is pleased to announce the commencement of a public review for the RFID Guideline specifically tailored for tires, REG 396. This guideline aims to provide comprehensive insights into the selection and verification of the design and manufacturing quality for RFID chips and transponders used in tire applications.

The document discusses the performance of RFID devices, especially those operating within UHF frequencies (860-960 MHz), and how they are intricately influenced by various factors. From the construction of the RFID-enabled device (from the chip to the transponder) to its placement on or within the tire, and the inherent characteristics of the underlying object itself, these elements significantly impact device performance. This guideline underscores the crucial importance of meticulous device selection, placement, and verification, emphasizing the distinctions between RFID devices and conventional barcodes, as outlined in MIL-STD-129. During this public review period, interested individuals and entities are invited to download the document from the AIM website. Comments and feedback on the guideline can be submitted to Michael Allen until February 10th, 2024.
